First a little bit of history.
Cocoa has a very rich history that goes back thousands of years. The Mayans and Aztecs already used cacao for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative development.
Many Indigenous cultures used cacao in the form of a sacred drink during ceremonies, often led by a Shaman, to honor the Gods and Spirits, to celebrate beautiful events, but also to serve to guests.
During these ceremonies, people often sat in a circle, dancing, singing and making music.
The cocoa drink that was served was made from the whole cocoa bean, which was roasted and pressed into a paste. Ancient texts and images on vases show that this paste was mixed with water, chili peppers and cornmeal to be poured from pot to pot until it was covered with a thick layer of foam.
Current Cocoa Drink.
Today we make the cocoa drink slightly differently. We at Kakaw Spirit have made it a little easier for you. We have already added the spices and we opted for cocoa powder, which dissolves easily and is light and less bitter / sour in taste. We have 4 Cacao blends inspired by the 4 elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. But if you prefer to drink it neat, we also have the Natural variant. If you like it a little sweet, add some honey, agave or coconut syrup. If you want to know exactly how to make it, see the link to our ' How to make ' page here.
Cocoa ceremony.
I am a big believer in a cup of cocoa every day, you can do a mini ceremony with it - with yourself. See also the video I made in which I explain how you can do that.
But there are also many beautiful ceremonies, in small and larger groups.
Cacao is therefore a plant medicine, a powerful, wise but above all feminine and gentle energy. Which enables you to perceive what is going on in your heart in a very subtle and loving way. It won't make you hallucinate or trip.
If you are curious about what your subconscious and your intuition have to tell you, cacao can help you with this.
There are also a number of active substances in cocoa, but they are also very soft.
This includes the substance tryptophan, which ensures that your serotonin levels get a boost. This can make you feel softer and happier. In addition to this blissful feeling, cocoa also has physical benefits. Cocoa contains many antioxidants and minerals such as iron, zinc, chromium and magnesium. These minerals ensure that your body stays healthy and the antioxidants boost your immune system.
I hope this has given you some clarity and information that you can use, if not, you know where to find us. We at Kakaw Spirit are ready to answer all your questions with love.
Love, Anouk
